Britain will give another round of applause tonight, to thank the NHS staff and key workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.

For the last two Thursdays people across the country have clapped, cheered and banged pots and pans in appreciation for those saving lives on the frontline.

Due to the massive success of the Clap for Our Carers campaign a third round of applause will be held at 8pm on Thursday night. The weekly event is a great way to say thanks, not only to doctors and nurses, but to everyone else who has to venture out to work for the good of the country.

A message on the campaign’s website said: ‘Healthcare workers, emergency services, armed services, delivery drivers, shop workers, teachers, waste collectors, manufacturers, postal workers, cleaners, vets, engineers and all those who are out there making an unbelievable difference to our lives in these challenging times… bravo, you are amazing!’

Event organiser Annemarie Plas says the event will take place at the same time every week for as long as the crisis continues.

Earlier today Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board thanked the public for their support and Tweeted: “It’s Thursday again! Let’s make this the biggest celebration yet! #clapforcarers

“Please take the time to show your appreciation to our NHS frontline staff and all key workers, by clapping at 8pm this evening.”
