The Mayor of Bangor, Councillor John Wyn Williams, has thanked everyone involved in the fight against Covid-19 and those keeping our essential supplies and services going, on behalf of Bangor City Council.

Councillor John Wyn Williams said: “The dedication and hard work of the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the National Health Service team, is appreciated by us all.

“Without your enthusiasm and loyalty, many more people would become casualties of this pandemic. A special thank you to the thousands of former healthcare members who have returned to the Service to assist in the current crisis. The people of Bangor, and indeed the whole country, are grateful to you all.

“To those who dedicate your lives to the caring of others, either in nursing homes or family homes, we have not forgotten you. Your selfless devotion is appreciated and is critical to ensuring others get the help they need. Your determination and commitment are appreciated now more than ever.

“A final word of thanks to the keyworkers, the supermarket staff, the delivery drivers, the utility workers and the myriad other workers and volunteers who have stepped up to keep our country and our communities working in these difficult times. Thank you all for your endeavours.

“While this pandemic is set to take its toll on many in our City, the steadfastness of our NHS staff, keyworker and volunteers are ensuring that our residents get as much help as they need. Bangor’s community spirit in this challenging time is truly inspirational.

“To everyone involved in this enormous effort thank you. We applaud you all.”
