Oscar Winning Welsh art director and graphic designer Annie Atkins will give a public lecture at Pontio in Bangor on 5 March.

As part of the team that claimed the Best Production Design Oscar for Grand Budapest Hotel, Annie was the lead graphic designer on the movie, designing and creating the lavishly detailed props.

The former Coleg Menai student will talk about her career and work designing the graphics for several Oscar winning films and learn more about her new book ‘Fake Love Letters, Forged Telegrams, and Prison Escape Maps‘ in which she shares how she created the film’s entire fictional nation – flags and coats of arms, banknotes and postage stamps, police reports and newspapers – from scratch.

2020 will see Annie’s work in Spielberg’s West Side Story remake, and in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch.

Annie Atkins talk about graphic design, film props and more will be held at Pontio, 5 March at 2.00 pm. Tickets free And are available here:
