The International Student support team has organised a big charity event, which will take place in JP Hall within Main Arts building of Bangor University on Friday 13 March 2020.

The event intends to presents the cultural diversity at Bangor University, unite the students, university staff and local community. The International Student Support Team at Bangor University are inviting the local community to join them for the ‘One World Gala’. Admission is free!

Expect extraordinary performances of traditional instruments, vibrant dances and beautiful voices from all over the World, celebrating the cultural diversity at Bangor University and the local community. One World Gala has been running for over ten years and in this time has become an important date in the Bangor University calendar.

In previous years, we have had performances from various international and home students, staff, clubs and societies at Bangor and local bands. In the words of Rajalakshmi Madhavan, a Psychology student from India who performed in 2018: “The One World Gala gave me an opportunity to showcase our cultural and traditional dance to the students and residents of Bangor. I also got a chance to witness the aspects and dances of other people’s cultures, and that is what I absolutely loved about the event. It was energising and bright, and power packed, and I’m grateful to have been a part of it.”

Angharad Thomas, Director of International Development, said:  “The One World Gala has become an established highlight within the University social calendar. It never fails to demonstrate the talent amongst our international students, and the pride they have in their various national cultures.

“The range of songs, dances and instrumentals demonstrate the diversity we have here at Bangor University and how important it is for us to share and promote our various cultures, both within the University and with the local community. I would like to thank all the students in advance, for their hard work and participation in this year’s event.”

Let’s celebrate the cultural diversity of our University and the local community.

Doors open at 6:30pm with performances starting at 7:00pm. The event will finish at roughly 10:00pm. No one should miss this event, as it will be a night to be remembered.
