Gwynedd Council is inviting tenders for the lease of the Storiel Café, located in the heart of Bangor.
This is a unique opportunity for a caterer or hospitality provider to operate a café within Storiel, Bangor’s museum and art gallery, and to contribute to one of the city’s most important cultural and community spaces.
Situated in the historic former Bishop’s Palace, a Grade II listed building, Storiel attracts over 30,000 visitors each year with exhibitions, events and activities. With ambitions to increase this to more than 45,000 visitors annually, the café will play a central role in enhancing the visitor experience by providing high-quality food and drink in a distinctive setting.
The café space (approx. 58m²) is light, spacious and fully equipped with essential appliances and furniture. An additional outdoor area offers the opportunity for al fresco dining, while the successful tenant will also benefit from exclusive rights to provide catering for meetings and events held within the Storiel building.
Gwynedd Council is seeking an operator who can deliver:
- Delicious light snacks, homemade cakes, and high-quality drinks.
- An emphasis on local produce and Welsh flavours.
- A warm, welcoming and professional service.
- A business approach that celebrates Welsh language and culture.
The tenancy will be offered on a three-year business lease, with rent payable annually. To support the new operator, the first two quarters will be rent-free.
The deadline for tender applications is 20 October 2025. Applicants are required to submit a business plan, sample menu and completed tender form.
