A new trial scheme from Cyngor Gwynedd is giving residents the chance to take home free leftover paint from local recycling centres, helping to cut waste and brighten the community.

The Reuse, Revive, Repaint initiative places tins of unwanted paint, handed in by the public, on a special “paint shelf” for anyone to take home. Perfect for freshening up a shed, adding colour to a garden bench, or tackling a creative project, the scheme gives old paint a second life instead of sending it to waste.

The trial started at Bangor Recycling Centre and has now been extended to Dolgellau, Garndolbenmaen, and Pwllheli. If it proves popular, Cyngor Gwynedd plans to expand the offer to more sites.

One happy resident has already headed home with a second-hand pot of paint, a small example of how reusing resources can make a big difference.
