You’ve heard about it for months. You’ve seen the posts, spotted the posters, maybe even started making plans. Now, it’s almost here. Bangor Summer Festival 2025 – the biggest free family day out in North Wales – is just days away, and the city is about to burst into life like never before.
Picture this: warm summer air carrying the scent of sizzling street food and sweet fudge, the steady heartbeat of live music drifting through the streets, and colour and movement everywhere you look. You’ll turn a corner and find a 6.5-metre brontosaurus towering above you, giant Transformers rolling through the crowd, Lightning McQueen gleaming in the sun, or the Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 parked up for the perfect selfie.
You’ll hear the sparkle of steel pans as the Pantonic All Stars Steel Band fills the High Street with Caribbean sunshine, and feel the deep bass from Freedom Soundsystem in Tan-y-Fynwent vibrating through the ground. Around you, children will be laughing, chasing clues in the city-wide Dino Treasure Hunt, trying circus skills, or bouncing away on inflatables – all without you spending a penny.
Wander into the Cathedral grounds and you’ll find charity stalls, vintage steam engines, crazy golf, and surprise visits from Spider-Man and Elsa. Step inside and you’ll discover soft play for little ones, a calm space to feed and change babies, and even a famous Mouse Hunt with prizes to be won.
And then there’s the music. On Storiel Green, Fearlessly Taylor, Oasish est. 1995, and CELT will take the stage with performances that will have you singing until your voice is gone – and every single one is free to watch. No tickets. No barriers. Just world-class entertainment in the heart of your city.
Almost everything at Bangor Summer Festival is free, making it a day for everyone – no matter your age, budget, or background. With good weather on the way, this is the moment to bring your family, your friends, your neighbours… and be part of something Bangor hasn’t seen in a generation.
💥 This isn’t just another day out – it’s the day your children will remember when they’re grown, the day you’ll talk about for years, the day Bangor made history. Don’t just hear about it afterwards. Be there. Live it. Make it yours.
