An election is to be held by Bangor City Council for a vacancy of councillor for Deiniol Ward. The vacancy has arisen after a previous councillor for Deiniol left the area.

Deiniol ward covers the centre of the city including the High Street and Bangor Cathedral. Two councillors are elected to Bangor City Council and one county councillor to Gwynedd Council.

The ward population, according to the 2011 Census, was 1,839. In the May 2017 county council election Plaid Cymru regained the seat from Labour, having lost it in 2012.

Nomination Papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Gwynedd Council, Council Offices, Shirehall Street, Caernarfon LL55 1SH on any weekday, but not later than 4.00pm on Friday, 20 July, 2018.

Forms of Nomination Paper may be obtained from the Returning Officer who will at the request of any elector for the ward, prepare a nomination paper for signature.

If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, 16 August, 2018.
