Siân Gwenllian MS was invited by pupils of Ysgol Friars recently, to deliver food collected towards Bangor Cathedral’s Food Bank.
The food was collected by the Welsh Department at Ysgol Friars, along with registration classes of the school’s year 11.
The local MS was invited to collect the food and deliver it to the Food Bank located at Bangor Cathedral.
Siân Gwenllian MS said: “The young people of Bangor have stepped up to the mark once again this Christmas, and have shown compassion and humanity.
“It’s a scandal that food banks should exist in the first place, but the warm-hearted actions of Ysgol Friars’ pupils, the school that I had the privilege of attending, is testament to the community spirit of Bangor.
“I was delighted to have seen Brooke Graham appear in the Senedd’s Online Gallery of Champions recently.
“Bangor can be very proud of its young people.’
Brooke Graham, of Maesgeirchen, Bangor, recently appeared in the Senedd’s Online Gallery of Champions for raising £175 for the NHS Charity Awyr Las.
The MS added: “Normally we would have held food collections at our constituency office on the High St. in Bangor, but our offices are still closed because of Covid restrictions.
“Therefore, I’m delighted to have helped with Ysgol Friars’ collection.
“On the food box I delivered were the words ‘Bydd Garedig’ (Be kind).
“I think that’s a message we should all remember this Christmas.”
