Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital Chaplain Reverend Wynne Roberts has been recognised for his achievements to charitable services in this year’s New Year’s Honours List.

Wynne, who has worked for the Health Board for around 20 years, has been recognised with a British Empire Medal (BEM) for his services to charity after raising thousands of pounds for dementia charities as an Elvis tribute act.

The 58-year-old has been raising money since 2013 and has helped to set up activities for dementia patients like the sensory garden at Ysbyty Gwynedd. Rev Roberts has raised over £250,000 for charities including Marie Curie, dementia and Tenovus Cancer Care.

He also helped to raise money for the Love Hope Strength Charity by conquering his fear of heights to sing on the summit of Snowdon to further improve cancer care and support for patients in North Wales.

Wynne said: “I am humbled by this honour and I dedicate it to all those who attend my shows and raise money for the charities.”
