A spectacular steam-hauled railway excursion will pass along the North Wales Coast this Sunday (12 July), bringing visitors to Bangor as part of the popular North Wales Coast Express.

Operated by Railway Touring Company, the special train will be hauled by LMS Stanier Class 5 locomotive No. 44871, departing Liverpool Lime Street at 10:02am before picking up passengers at Broad Green (10:12am), Warrington Bank Quay (10:46am) and Chester (11:38am).

After crossing into Wales, the steam train will travel along the scenic North Wales Coast through Prestatyn, Rhyl and Colwyn Bay before reaching Llandudno Junction at 12:28pm. Passengers travelling to Llandudno will continue by connecting service train, arriving at 12:50pm.

The train is scheduled to arrive in Bangor at 1:22pm, giving passengers time to explore the city’s attractions, including Bangor Cathedral, Garth Pier and the city’s shops and cafés.

Continuing west, the train will cross the historic Britannia Bridge over the Menai Strait before arriving in Holyhead at 2:06pm, where passengers will have time to visit the town and marina while the steam locomotive is turned and serviced for the return journey.

The return trip departs Holyhead at 6:05pm, calling at Bangor at 6:43pm, Llandudno Junction at 7:39pm, Chester at 8:52pm, Warrington Bank Quay at 9:35pm, Broad Green at 10:02pm, before arriving back at Liverpool Lime Street at 10:15pm.

Passengers can choose from Premier Dining, First Class or Standard Class, with Premier Dining including a full English breakfast on the outward journey and a four-course evening meal served on the return. A buffet car will also be available throughout the journey serving refreshments and light snacks.
