Further to recent reports of spiking at a Bangor nightclub, North Wales Police have provided an update on their ongoing investigation.
The incidents were reported by a small number of women socialising in Bangor as part of separate groups on 18 and 19 February 2022.
All reported feeling unwell the following day and, after noticing marks on their arms, suspected they had been the victims of drug spiking by needles.
Each of these women has provided a police statement and consented to blood tests, to identify the possible presence of illicit drugs.
DCI Rebecca Hughes said: “Enquiries into these incidents remain ongoing and we are liaising with those who have reported suspected needle spiking offences in Bangor.
“Incidents of drug spiking in North Wales are rare, but we are aware of an increase in reports across the whole of the UK in recent years.
“I would like to reassure everyone within the community that these reports are being taken extremely seriously by North Wales Police.
“A dedicated team of detectives are investigating the reports and we are increasing focused patrols. We are also working closely with local venues who are increasing safety measures for their customers.
“Our advice to everyone enjoying a night out is to be vigilant, to report any suspicious behaviour to staff or police, and to be aware of anything offered to you by someone you don’t know.
“We would encourage anyone who believes that they have been a victim of drug spiking by any means to seek immediate medical attention.
