Hundreds of new students at the Bangor and Llangefni campuses of Coleg Menai enjoyed the annual Freshers’ Fair which took place this week, with staff and representatives from local organisations extending a warm welcome.

Many local and national businesses, clubs and charities attended the event to discuss possible volunteering opportunities with students, including BCUHB: Health Wise Wales; Mantell Gwynedd; Communities First (Môn); Alzheimer’s Society; Autism Gwynedd; Road Safety; Fire & Rescue; the Army AFC and Royal Navy; Canolfan Brailsford, and Pontio.

Representatives from the college’s Student Welfare Team, Library Service and Student Unions offered advice on everything from finance and transport to sports academies, and Careers Wales was there to offer assistance on future career opportunities.

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s Learner Services Student Enrichment Officer, Sarah Wynn, said: “These fairs give us the chance to welcome our new students properly and give them the chance to join clubs, make friends and make those all-important connections with local organisations. Freshers’ Fair is a great way to kick-start the new academic year on a positive note, and gives the students a clear view of the opportunities and the support available to them.”

Many courses at Coleg Menai are full but a select few still have availability. For more information on any courses, please visit the website at www.gllm.ac.uk or contact the course advice line on 01248 383 333.
