Plans have been re-submitted to build a new retail unit, along with associated access, landscaping, and servicing, at Menai Retail Park on Caernarfon Road in Bangor.
The current retail site includes well-known retailers Currys-PC World, The Food Warehouse, TK Maxx, and Pets at Home. While original plans for the development were approved in 2016, they have since expired. The new proposal aims to build a 465sqm unit beside Currys.
Although no specific brand has been confirmed, the developer is seeking an “open A1 consent,” which would allow for a variety of retailers to occupy the space. They believe there is a strong demand for this type of unit in Bangor.
According to the planning application, the proposed new unit would operate under open A1 consent, making it attractive to a diverse range of potential tenants. The applicant has highlighted a clear demand for such retail space in the area, as indicated by retailers actively seeking well-equipped units with essential infrastructure like parking and easy access.
The new unit could accommodate various retailers currently looking for space in Bangor, and the requested consent would provide the necessary flexibility to align with existing units in Menai Retail Park.
