Invest Local Maesgeirchen have agreed to contribute £50,000 towards the cost of a new park on the Bangor estate, which aims to provide the community with a state of the art play area for children of all ages.
A consultation process will now be carried out which aims to involve the local young people in the project. It’s hoped that by being involved in the consultation, the youngsters will also have a sense of ownership of the new park and that it will be well looked after in the future.
A group of 10 children aged between 10-13 are now required, who can meet over the Easter holidays, to carry out a number of tasks including choosing a name for the new park.
Invest Local is a programme of funding and support for 13 communities across Wales. It’s an opportunity for everyone living in those communities to make their local area an even better place to live.
The 10-year programme builds on the strengths, skills and talents of individuals, groups and organisations in those communities to create positive and long-lasting change. Each area will have £1m to spend on local priorities over the 10 years.
Each community decides how they want their areas to develop, how the money will be used, which organisations they want to work with, and how decisions are made.
