Plans have been submitted to Gwynedd Council to turn the Harvey’s New York Bar and Grill site, off Caernarfon Road, into a Starbucks drive-thru restaurant.

Harvey’s restaurant in Bangor opened in 2016, offering great food, including grilled steak and burgers, in the typical style of a New York Bar & Grill.

The new plans include splitting the unit to create 2 separate spaces, with a new shopfront and entrance door to second newly created unit. A new drive-thru window pod would be installed, existing shopfronts will be re-sprayed and various new illuminated and non-illuminated signage would be placed to both the building and site.

The application from Cafe Fortune Ltd states there would be 15 full time and 5 part-time jobs created at the site.

The US coffee chain also opened a Drive-Thru Coffee Shop at Llandygai (One Stop) service station in 2018. Plans for a Starbucks drive-thru in the centre of Bangor, on land on the junction with Deiniol Road and Sackville Road, were rejected in 2017, after considerable local opposition to the plans.

The application has been submitted to Gwynedd council for consideration and this will be decided in the coming months.
