A new support group for people affected by endometriosis is set to launch in Bangor later this month.
The first meeting of the Bangor Endometriosis UK Support Group will take place on Sunday, 28 June, from 10am to 12pm at Treborth Botanic Garden, Bangor University.
The group aims to provide a welcoming and supportive space for people living with endometriosis to meet others with shared experiences, access peer support and take part in informal discussions.
The inaugural session will include introductions, group discussion and opportunities for attendees to connect with others affected by the condition.
The meeting is free to attend and open to anyone affected by endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows elsewhere in the body, often causing severe pain, fatigue and other symptoms. According to Endometriosis UK, the condition affects around one in ten women and those assigned female at birth in the UK.
The charity says more than 1.5 million people across the UK are living with the condition and many face long waits for diagnosis and treatment.
The new Bangor group is the first Endometriosis UK support group to be established in the area and forms part of the charity’s network of peer support groups across the country.
The meeting will be held at Treborth Botanic Garden, Bangor University, Treborth, Bangor, LL57 2RQ, from 10am until midday on Sunday 28 June. Attendance is free and no admission charge applies.
