One of Bangor’s best-known Welsh-language pubs has temporarily closed its doors, with the owners citing “extremely difficult circumstances”.

A handwritten notice placed outside Tafarn y Glôb in upper Bangor informed customers that the popular venue would be closing “for a while”, while expressing hope that the move would only be temporary.

The message, written in both Welsh and English, said:

“Due to very difficult circumstances we are having to close the shop for a while. Hopefully this is a temporary measure while matters are resolved. We’ll keep you posted – missing you already.”

No further information has yet been released regarding the nature of the circumstances behind the closure or how long the pub is expected to remain shut.

The announcement has prompted an outpouring of support on social media, with many customers expressing their sadness at the news and their hope that the venue will reopen in the near future.

Tafarn y Glôb has long been regarded as one of Bangor’s most prominent Welsh-language pubs, serving as a popular meeting place for locals and students alike.

The owners have said they will share further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
