Menai Bridge Fair, known locally as Ffair Borth, will return on Saturday 23 October 2021, after being cancelled for the first time in a generation in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

History

The traditional street fair dates back to around 1680, and was originally held four times a year, in August, September, October and November. It is also thought the fair was originally held on both banks of the Straits, before the bridges were built, therefore the animals would have to be transported or swim to Caernarfonshire to be sold. This was obviously very dangerous to the animals, therefore gradually the fair made its home solely in Menai Bridge.
