George Turner, standing as Welsh Labour candidate, has been returned as the new Bangor City Councillor for Hirael ward at Thursday’s by-election.
The election was called following the resignation of Independent Councillor Keith Jones from the City Council, although he will continue to represent Hirael as a county councillor on Gwynedd Council.
Newly elected Mr Turner, who joins existing Labour Councillor for the ward, Luke Tugwell on the City Council, said: “I’m really looking forward to working with my colleagues on the council and doing my best for the people of Hirael and Bangor as a whole”
The Executive committee of the Bangor Branch of the Labour Party said: “We would like to thank all the local members who worked tirelessly during this campaign.
