G Williams and Son Butchers on Bangor High Street – known locally as ’Johnny 6’ – has closed.

The butchers re-opened under the same name last November after the original businesses closed in July 2018 due to administration.

The business had been trading in Bangor since 1870 and were famous for their quality meats and home made sausages & burgers. More recently the butcher’s shop had been offering hot meals to take away, breakfast baps and a hog roast outside the shop on the High Street.

The business re-opened under the management of Ashley Thomas, who had started as an apprentice and worked in the original shop, but the new businesses closed its doors last week.

A message on the Facebook page last week read: “Well that’s the end of Johnny 6. Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to close out doors today. We do apologies to all out loyal customers.

“To those who have put a deposit on christmas turkeys don’t worry you will get your deposit back, and we do hope that you can order from somewhere else.

“Thank you to all the people who have supported us over the last 11 months, we appreciate everything. Onwards and upwards to us and our family now with no stress and a happy future.”
