On Friday 29th November, Pontio, Bangor will be hosting Bwthyn Sonig’s first inclusive club night in north Wales, by and for people with and without learning disabilities.
The evening will include performances by local musicians including Llŷr Griffiths who will present a mix of original songs and popular hits, guitarist Sophie Gerrard who will perform a brand new song for the first time, and Hijinx’s North Youth People’s Theatre, Daniel , Ava, Elain, Enfys, Ross, Rhodri and Gethin, who will also perform original songs in the company of musician Henry Horrell.
As part of the evening, Anarchy Wølf will launch his first album, Mental State, and perform a selection of songs from it. His music is an explosive combination of alternative rock and rap, and his lyrics are hard hitting and full of emotion. A Q&A session will take place before the evening with the musician behind the music, Mathew (?), which will be an opportunity to hear more about the process of developing the album and his experiences working as a professional musician.
It’s a north Wales debut for headliners Electric Fire, who will play soft and bumpy R&B, singalong choruses and club bangers. Alicia (vocals), Ehima (drums, percussion and vocals), Sam (synths and vocals) and William (laptop, production and vocals) formed the group through Heart n Soul – an award-winning creative community and arts charity in London. They’ve since performed in Hong Kong,Amsterdam, London and Paris, and UK festivals such as We Out Here, Shambala, and Supernormal.
As well as a question and answer session with Anarchy Wølf, there will be a jamming session at 6:15pm that is open to anyone. Bring your voice or instrument and join in a collaborative and relaxed music jam.
This inclusive, fun and unique club night will be an opportunity to socialise, relax and enjoy in the company of friends, old and new. Come and enjoy a feast of music, to dance and sing, and to celebrate the showcase of talent.
There will be standing and sitting areas, and the Ffynnon bar will be open downstairs. You are more than welcome to bring a drink into the studio. There will also be a range of accessible materials available, including ear protectors, sunglasses and earplugs that you can keep. A quiet space will also be available in the Cafe area.
