A pensioner who was stopped by police on the A55 at Bangor on Saturday, was arrested for drink driving for the third time this month!

The 71 year-old man was stopped at lunchtime on Saturday and found to be over the drink drive limit, giving a breath test reading of 55mg (legal limit is 35mg).

Officers then found he was also disqualified from driving, having appeared in court on remand for two previous offences this month, where he was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to participate in an alcohol rehabilitation programme.

Apart from the three charges this month he has also been charged on another two occasions in the past for drink driving where he was dealt with at court.

The man has now been charged with drinking driving, disqualified driving and driving with no insurance and has been remanded in custody once again to appear before Magistrates on Monday morning. Police have also seized his car.
