Weather warnings are in place all week for North Wales as Bangor was hit by an unexpected snowfall during the night and scattered snow showers throughout the day. All Bangor schools were closed today due to the snow, allowing children the rare opportunity to enjoy building snowmen and sledging.

Temperatures for the rest of the week are unlikely to rise much above freezing during the day and will plummet to -7 °C at night.

Tonight:

A mixture of clear spells and scattered snow showers will continue this evening and overnight. Showers will be heaviest and most frequent in the east, clearer in western Wales. A widespread severe frost is forecast overnight, feeling bitterly cold. Minimum temperature -7 °C.

Wednesday:

Similar cold conditions will continue with isolated snow showers and sunny spells. Snow showers will be heavy at times, particularly in the afternoon. Feeling bitter with strengthening winds. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday becoming windy, with prolonged snowfall and significant accumulations, and an increased risk of ice. Friday and Saturday will bring a risk of further snow, ice, and cold conditions.
