As part of the city’s historic 1500th anniversary, Bangor is set to enjoy a weekend-long celebration packed with unforgettable entertainment for all ages. From a wild bingo night and live Welsh bands to princesses, superheroes, and inflatable fun, Bangor’s Big Weekend promises something for everyone.
The weekend kicks off on Friday 25th July with a bang – and a dab – at Bingo Bedlam, the outrageous, high-octane bingo experience where dancefloor energy meets unpredictable comedy chaos. Expect big laughs, bizarre prizes, and a party atmosphere that will leave you breathless, all under a marquee on the green by Storiel, in the heart of Bangor.
Celebrate the spirit of Wales on Saturday evening with an unforgettable night of live music and local talent. ‘Bangor Byw’ showcases some of the most exciting Welsh artists, including Ed Holden, Morgan Elwy, Gwilym Bowen, Hogia Bonc, and Pys Melyn, with a special appearance by Alis Glyn. Presented in partnership with Menter Iaith, this vibrant night of Welsh culture and sound is not to be missed.
The evening will also feature the launch of the Byscio Bangor Busking Competition which has been organised between Bangor First and Menter Iaith, where local musicians, both new and experienced, will showcase their talents and perform in Welsh. Taking place every Saturday throughout the summer on Bangor’s High Street, this event aims to create a lively Welsh atmosphere and celebrate the language through music.
On Sunday, head over to Storiel Green from 11 am to 4 pm for a magical, free family-friendly celebration to wrap up the weekend. Enjoy live princess and superhero shows, and children will have the opportunity to meet their favourite characters like Spiderman, Batman, Venom, Belle, Rapunzel, and Ariel, and why not take advantage of free face painting for the kids. It’s the perfect way to celebrate community, creativity, and Bangor’s incredible 1500-year history.
