A young woman from Bangor has raised a brilliant amount of money for seriously ill local children.

Running on behalf of Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices, Elwen Evans completed the Caernarfon Half Marathon on Sunday 8th September and raised a total of £610.

The 22 year-old from Tregarth crossed the line in 2hr 27min and said after the race: “The weather held out, it was just a bit grey and humid, but at least we didn’t get any rain.

“The toughest part for me was the last five kilometres when you can see the castle across the water but have to carry on up the hill towards Coed Helen and onto the cycle path.

“The crowd really helped push me across the line.

“I want to thank everybody who kindly sponsored me and helped this wonderful local charity.”

Fundraising Team Leader for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith, Andy Everley said: “Elwen is a real star and we are so grateful for all the effort she put in to training and completing the Caernarfon Half.

“Every penny raised through her kind sponsors will help us to continue caring and making quality moments for the families we support in the area.

“Thank you so much, Elwen and good luck with your running in the future.”
