Bangor University has been named among the world’s most sustainable universities in the latest edition of an annual study.
Bangor was ranked the 15th most sustainable university in the world for the 2021 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, and the 3rd highest-ranked university in the UK, with only the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University placed higher.
This news comes just days after Bangor University were also ranked ‘First Class’ in the People & Planet University Rankings. The comprehensive and independent league table of UK universities ranked by environmental and ethical performance. It is compiled annually by the UK’s largest student campaigning network.
A statement on the Bangor University Facebook page said: “We are committed to sustainable development and global citizenship.
“We aim to promote sustainability in research, business and enterprise activities and we will continue to strive for further improvements in the coming years.”
The rankings are based on aspects such as setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, and education and research.
