Bangor High street was closed between the Cathedral and The Varsity Pub this morning after North Wales Fire Service are currently dealing with a fire at the Noodle One restaurant.

Three appliances attended the scene after receiving a call at around 2.55am on Tuesday. An aerial ladder was also in use. The fire service said they have managed to put out the blaze but work is ongoing to make the scene safe.

At this stage it is not clear what started the fire. The adjacent premises are also thought to be damaged as a result of the fire.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire service said: “We attended an incident at Noodle One bar in Bangor High Street.

“Three fire engines, one from Menai Bridge and two from Bangor, along with an aerial ladder appliance from Bangor, also attended.

“We have had a significant fire within the building, which has now been extinguished successfully by the crews that attended.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the vigilant member of the public who contacted North Wales Fire and Rescue Service to alert us to the ongoing incident.

“It is currently being made safe so that we can continue our fire investigation into the cause of this incident.”
