Twelfth Night is fast approaching and falls on Friday January 5, so it’s nearly time to take down the Christmas decorations and put away the tree for another year, here’s a quick guide how to dispose of unwanted real Christmas trees.

Householders in Gwynedd can put their old Christmas trees out on the usual garden waste collection day and they will be collected if they’re placed next to your brown bin on the first collection in the new year.

Garden waste collection is now a paid service which costs £33 a year, payable and renewable on the Gwynedd Council website.

If you don’t have a garden waste recycling bin, old Christmas trees can be taken to any Gwynedd recycling centre, in Bangor the recycling centre at Llandygai Industrial Estate, LL57 4YH is open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm and at the weekends 10am – 3pm. Check the council website for holiday opening times.

Christmas cards can be placed in the blue recycling box as can wrapping paper as long as all sticky tape, ribbons etc are removed.
