Fans of legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell are in for a treat this autumn as This Flight Tonight – The Songs of Joni Mitchell comes to Pontio, Bangor, celebrating one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

Performed by critically acclaimed Welsh songwriting duo Zervas & Pepper and their five-piece band, the two-hour show faithfully recreates Mitchell’s iconic 1971 album Blue in its entirety before taking audiences on a musical journey through her first eight albums.

The performance forms part of the band’s 2026 UK and Ireland tour, which follows more than 100 sold-out shows across the UK and Ireland, including acclaimed performances at Cadogan Hall, Snape Maltings and Celtic Connections.

Rather than reinterpreting Mitchell’s music, Zervas & Pepper have built a reputation for recreating it with remarkable authenticity, capturing the intricate guitar tunings, harmonies and instrumentation that defined her influential Laurel Canyon era.

The second half of the concert features songs spanning Mitchell’s early career, including favourites from Song to a Seagull, Clouds, Ladies of the Canyon, For the Roses, Court and Spark, The Hissing of Summer Lawns and Hejira.

Vocalist Kathryn Pepper said the aim is to recreate the music as faithfully as possible.

“We are musical purists. If we’re going to present Joni’s music for a live show, then we are going to aim to recreate the performances almost exactly as they were intended. Every single note, inflection, and momentary pause was placed there by the artist with intent.”

She added that the goal is for audiences to feel as though they are “having a private listening session at Joni’s house in Laurel Canyon.”

The production has earned praise from across the music world. The late David Crosby described it as featuring “fine singing”, while BBC broadcasters Bob Harris and Mark Radcliffe have called it “beautiful” and “sublime”.

Critics have also praised Pepper’s vocal performance, with UK Jazz News saying she matches Mitchell’s distinctive voice, expression and range with remarkable accuracy.

Zervas & Pepper, who have released five critically acclaimed albums of their own music, have spent more than a decade building a loyal following across the UK and Europe while championing the late 1960s and early 1970s West Coast folk-rock sound.

This Flight Tonight – The Songs of Joni Mitchell will be performed at Pontio, Bangor, featuring two sets and a full performance of Blue alongside many of Mitchell’s best-loved classics.
