Pontio arts centre in Bangor have announced that they have suspended their arts programme, including all live performances, cinema screenings and participatory events, due to government advice on the developing Coronavirus, Covid-19.

 

The decision has been taken by Bangor University’s Executive in consultation with Pontio to suspend performances for the time being.

A statement released by Pontio said: “This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, but is deemed necessary due to the latest Government advice and for the welfare of students, staff and audiences.”

The rest of the Pontio building including Cegin and the Students’ Union will be remain open from 9-5pm Monday to Friday for the time being.

The statement added: “Please bear with us whilst we work through all the implications, including show and screening cancellations and postponements, phone lines may be busy. Bookers will be contacted as soon as possible.”
