North Wales Police have reported 5 people for Covid related offences in the last 24hrs for making non-essential journeys.

A statement from police said: “We’ve had some interesting conversations in the last 24 hours:

“The first was with a lady from Manchester, who had travelled to the Ogwen Valley with her children to ‘relieve the boredom’.

“Next, a man from Liverpool told a Park Ranger in Snowdonia he didn’t care about the restrictions and was going for a walk in the national park. We caught up with him in Bodelwyddan.

“A Bangor man has been spoken to today, for making several non essential travel journeys in the same day.

“We’ve also stopped a taxi who unwittingly had two passengers who live at different addresses. They had decided they were missing each other too much and would break the restrictions to be together.

“All five individuals have been reported for Covid related offences.
The ‘lockdown’ isn’t easy, but it exists to protect everybody – the restrictions apply to everyone.”

Inspector Jon Aspinall said: “Officers continue to monitor those coming into , and moving around the local community. Today we have stopped a number of vehicles and have had to prosecute a number of individuals as highlighted, who have been in breach of the COVID restrictions.

“This is necessary to protect our local community and key workers and will continue until the restrictions are lifted. I would like to thank the local community for their cooperation and assistance during this difficult time.”
