A Bangor teenager has been thanked for her acts of kindness in the community during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Brooke Graham, 13, has used her hobby of baking and turned it into a way of raising money, by selling cakes and raising £175 for the NHS Charity Awyr Las to purchase much needed essential items.

But Brooke’s kindness didn’t end there, she has recently baked over 100 cakes which were delivered to pensioners in Maesgeirchen with the regular food ‘drop off’ scheme on the estate.

Arfon AM Sian Gwenllian was made aware of Brooke’s act of kindness and local Councillor Nigel Pickavance presented Brooke with a thank you letter from Sian and a thank you card and gift on behalf of the food drop off team and the Community of the Marchog ward.

Cllr Pickavance said: “In times of difficulty during this Covid-19 epidemic, it’s heart-warming to hear of positive acts of kindness happening in communities.

“The effort of Brooke over the last 5 weeks is an example of this kindness and the Community of Maesgeirchen would like to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to her.

“Brooke used her hobby of baking and turned it into a way to raise money in a brilliant way and I am sure she will have inspired many young people to do similar in the future.

“The cakes she made went down really well and many of the recipients were very emotional to learn that someone so young could be so caring towards them during these difficult times.”
