A series of community fundraising events are taking place during Dementia Action Week, 18–24 May 2026, to raise money for local dementia care homes.
Organised by Gwenda Hughes, the events include a Dementia Gig in Llanberis on Tuesday, 19 May, and a Bangor Pier Walk.
Gwenda, owner of Ffeind Cyf, a dementia-friendly organisation based in Gwynedd, is encouraging people to come along and support the events.
The money raised will support Plas Hedd in Maesgeirchen and Plas Pengwaith, near Llanberis.
The pier walk takes place on Wednesday, 20 May, beginning at 11am outside Byw’n Iach Bangor before taking a leisurely walk down Garth Pier and back.
Organisers say the walk is suitable for all abilities, with a warm welcome extended to everyone taking part. Refreshments will also be available.
Speaking ahead of the events, Gwenda Hughes said:
“Come along to our Dementia Gig in Llanberis and/or join me and Moli for a leisurely walk with others on the pier. All monies raised is for dementia, a cause close to my heart.”
The walk marks the fourth year of fundraising efforts at the pier, with organisers hoping families, friends and supporters from across the area will join in.
A statement on the fundraising page adds:
“Dementia is very close to our hearts. We are looking forward to returning back to the pier for the fourth year and raise more funds for dementia.”
The events are free to attend, with donations welcomed throughout Dementia Action Week.
