A 7 year-old schoolboy from Bangor has raised over £2,000 for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Charity, by running 5km every day during May.
Inspired by Colonel Tom Moore’s fundraising efforts, Elis Owen decided that he also wanted to raise money for charity during the lock-down period.
10 years ago – in fact, before Elis was even born – his grandfather Iolo Owen died at the young age of 50 from Motor Neurone Disease.
A huge Liverpool fan, Elis had just realised that one of his heroes, Stephen Darby, was suffering from the same condition, and knew immediately which charity he was going to support in his efforts.
The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation was created to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Elis ran 5k every day throughout the month of May, accompanied by his dad, Geth Owen, and has so far raised £2,306 for the charity. They finished their stint in style yesterday, dressed as Batman and Robin!
