Over £2,500 has been raised in memory of a much-loved nurse at Ysbyty Gwynedd who sadly passed away in January 2019.
A group of friends took on the Three Peaks Challenge back to back and raised £2,635.00 towards the hospital’s Emergency Department in memory of Eleri Rees Jones.
Gwyn Griffith, one of the six members of the team who took part in the fundraiser said: “It was a tough challenge; we started on Snowdon and finished on Snowdon 30 hours later.
“The team was sponsored by many businesses in Bangor but the challenge could not have been completed without the kindness of the main sponsor Mike’s Garage in Llandygai.
“We look forward to taking on the Three Peaks Challenge again this July this time in memory of the Dementia Wales Charity.”
Eleri’s sad passing left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her and Matron Lyn Roberts said the donation was a wonderful tribute in her memory.
She said: “Eleri was such a special friend and colleague to many of us here in the Emergency Department and we still very much feel her loss.
“It was wonderful to accept this donation on behalf of the team and get to once again see Eleri’s daughters.
“We’d like to thank the team for raising this amazing amount of money for us, it is very much appreciated.”
