A new exhibition by young Welsh artist Elain Haf Walker has officially opened at Bangor’s independent arts and community venue, @109.

The exhibition launched this week at the Bangor High Street creative space as part of its first “Celebrating Creatives Day”, attracting visitors from across the area to celebrate local art, creativity and emerging talent.

At just 17 years old, Elain is also the youngest artist to exhibit at the venue so far, marking an important milestone for the growing creative hub.

Visitors attending the launch were able to explore a collection of Elain’s work, including landscape paintings, floral photography and detailed monochrome illustrations inspired by nature and Welsh surroundings.

Food for the evening was provided by Anka Turkish Restaurant, with organisers thanking owner Ramadan and member of staff Susie for their support and hospitality throughout the event.

Elain’s work will remain on display at @109 until 6 June, with artwork also available for sale.

Over the coming weeks, Elain will also spend time working alongside the @109 team and resident artists, gaining experience in exhibition work, customer engagement and collaboration with local businesses and creatives.

Organisers say the initiative is designed to support developing artists by helping them build confidence, showcase their work publicly and gain practical experience within the creative sector.

@109, located on Bangor High Street between Bangor Cathedral and the railway station, operates as a creative community space hosting exhibitions, workshops, live events and local artists.

The venue’s next “Celebrating Creatives Day” is expected to take place toward the end of June, with further collaborations involving Bangor’s Pendref area and local creatives already being planned.
