As anticipation builds for the Bangor Summer Festival on August 16th, organisers are inviting the public to get into the spirit early with a special Warm-Up Event this Saturday 9th August, from 12:30pm to 4:00pm, at the Town Clock Zone in Bangor city centre.
The event offers a free afternoon of live entertainment and family-friendly activities designed to give local residents and visitors a taste of what’s to come at the main festival the following weekend. It’s also a way of showing appreciation to the community, many of whom have supported the festival since its early days.
Attendees can look forward to live music from talented local singer Dylan Jones, as well as a Bangor Ska & Soul DJ set from Michael Williams. Children and families can enjoy a free circus skills workshop, bouncy castle, and soft play area for toddlers, alongside face painting and other small attractions designed to create a relaxed, joyful atmosphere for all ages.
A special highlight of the event will be the Friendship Bracelet Workshop taking place at Caffi Hafan. This free activity invites young Taylor Swift fans to make and swap bracelets ahead of the Fearlessly Taylor tribute performance on August 16th, offering a fun, creative space for Swifties to connect and get into the festival spirit. The workshop is open throughout the afternoon, and no booking is required.
Caffi Hafan will also be serving tea, coffee & soft drinks to keep energy levels up while families explore the event.
Those looking for something a little different can head to Trilogy Nightclub on Dean Street, where from 3pm to 5pm, there will be a live professional wrestling show. Entry to this adrenaline-fuelled spectacle is just £7 on the door, making it an exciting add-on to an already action-packed afternoon.
Organisers hope that this build-up day will help boost excitement for the main event, while giving families an extra opportunity to come together, enjoy the city, and make happy memories — without breaking the bank.
“We know times are tough for many families, so this warm-up event — like much of the main festival — is built around the idea that fun shouldn’t have to come with a hefty price tag,” said co-organiser Nigel Pickavance. “We want people to feel the buzz growing in Bangor and know that there’s something here for everyone.”
