A brand new voter information website, vote.wales has been launched by the Electoral Management Board for Wales, part of the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru.

Vote.wales is the first website of its kind in Wales and tells people everything they need to know about the election, including advice about voting, information about the Senedd, and a postcode search function to tell people everything they need to know in their local area.

Vote.wales holds information about who can register to vote, how voting works in polling stations as well as postal and proxy voting, and what support people can expect with accessibility as they go to vote.

A postcode search function on vote.wales lets voters see which of Wales’ 16 new constituencies they’ll be voting in, as well as telling them where their local polling station is.

Once candidates are confirmed, it will also tell voters which political parties and independent candidates are standing in their area.

The website also explains how the Senedd works and what it does, as well as highlighting which policy areas the Senedd is responsible for and which are held by the UK parliament. The website also covers the difference between the Senedd and Welsh Government.

Further developments are expected on the website in the coming weeks. In a first for Welsh elections, people will soon be able to find accessibility information for their local polling station, and political parties and independent candidates will also be able to publish their election leaflets on the website so that voters not only know who they can vote for, but also what those people stand for.

Following the election, vote.wales will also publish the election results in full.

Commenting on the launch of the website, Chief Executive of the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru, Shereen Williams MBE OStJ said:

“An important election is coming on 7 May, and vote.wales is the place to go to find out all about it.

“We know that people across Wales are looking forward to making their voices heard at this election, but many people don’t feel they have all the information they need before they go and vote.

Bwrwpleidlais.cymru: Lansio gwefan wybodaeth i cynyddu hyder pleidleisio

Mae gwefan gwybodaeth newydd sbon i bleidleiswyr, bwrwpleidlais.cymru, wedi’i lansio gan Fwrdd Rheoli Etholiadol Cymru, rhan o Gomisiwn Democratiaeth a Ffiniau Cymru.

Bwrwpleidlais.cymru yw’r wefan gyntaf o’i math yng Nghymru ac mae’n dweud wrth bobl bopeth sydd angen iddynt ei wybod am yr etholiad, gan gynnwys cyngor am bleidleisio, gwybodaeth am y Senedd, a’r gallu i chwilio am wybodaeth leol yn ôl côd post.

Mae bwrwpleidlais.cymru yn dal gwybodaeth am bwy all gofrestru i bleidleisio, sut mae pleidleisio’n gweithio mewn gorsafoedd pleidleisio yn ogystal â phleidleisio drwy’r post a thrwy ddirprwy, a pha gefnogaeth y gall pobl ei disgwyl gyda hygyrchedd wrth iddynt fynd i bleidleisio.

Mae’r chwiliwr côd post ar bwrwpleidlais.cymru yn gadael i bleidleiswyr weld ym mha un o’r 16 o etholaethau newydd y byddant yn pleidleisio, yn ogystal â dweud wrthynt ble mae eu gorsaf bleidleisio leol.

Unwaith ymgeiswyr wedi eu cadarnhau, bydd hefyd yn dweud wrth bleidleiswyr pa bleidiau gwleidyddol ac ymgeiswyr annibynnol sy’n sefyll yn eu hardal.

Mae’r wefan hefyd yn egluro sut mae’r Senedd yn gweithio a beth mae’n ei wneud, yn ogystal â thynnu sylw at ba feysydd polisi y mae’r Senedd yn gyfrifol amdanynt a pha rai sy’n cael eu dal gan senedd y DU. Mae’r wefan hefyd yn trafod y gwahaniaeth rhwng y Senedd a Llywodraeth Cymru.

Disgwylir datblygiadau pellach ar y wefan yn yr wythnosau nesaf. Am y tro cyntaf mewn etholiad Cymreig, bydd pobl yn gallu dod o hyd i wybodaeth hygyrchedd ar gyfer eu gorsaf bleidleisio leol yn fuan, a bydd pleidiau gwleidyddol ac ymgeiswyr annibynnol hefyd yn gallu cyhoeddi eu taflenni etholiad ar y wefan fel bod pleidleiswyr nid yn unig yn gwybod dros bwy y gallant bleidleisio, ond hefyd beth yw gweledigaeth yr ymgeiswyr.

Yn dilyn yr etholiad, bydd bwrwpleidlais.cymru hefyd yn cyhoeddi canlyniadau’r etholiad yn llawn.

Wrth wneud sylwadau ar lansio’r wefan, dywedodd Prif Weithredwr Comisiwn Democratiaeth a Ffiniau Cymru, Shereen Williams MBE OStJ:

“Mae etholiad pwysig ar y gweill ar 7 Mai, a bwrwpleidlais.cymru yw’r lle i fynd i ddysgu’r cwbl amdano.

“Mae pobl ledled Cymru yn edrych ymlaen at leisio eu barn yn yr etholiad hwn, ond mae llawer o bobl yn teimlo nad oes ganddynt yr holl wybodaeth sydd ei hangen arnynt cyn iddynt fynd i bleidleisio.

“Os oes gennych gwestiynau am yr etholiad hwn, yna ewch i bwrwpleidlais.cymru. Mae hyder pleidleisio yn dechrau yma.”
