A new ITV series will take a poignant journey, looking back at Bangor’s Farrar Road stadium.
The new series – Vanished Wales – looks at some of Wales’ iconic buildings, structures and landmarks that have all disappeared within our living memory. Telling the stories of the historic sites that were once the hub of our communities.
Farrar Road was Bangor City’s home between 1919 – 2011, and for generations of fans it was the heartbeat of the city.
Over the years Farrar Road hosted many memorable games, including the likes of Italian giants Napoli and Copa del Rey winners Atletico Madrid in European competition and friendly games against Liverpool and Chelsea. The stadium also played host to a game between Wales and Manchester United in 1969 when Denis Law, George Best and Bobby Charlton all graced the pitch.
The historic European nights and the highs and lows in between, are remembered in this nostalgic trip down memory lane.
The club moved to their new stadium at Nantporth in 2011, Farrar Road was demolished and Asda supermarket now stands in its place, a decision that many fans still find difficult to accept.
Vanished Wales is a 4-part series that starts on Friday, 13 May. Farrar Road features in Episode 3 on 27 May, ITV Wales at 7pm.
