The UEFA Women’s EURO trophy is set to make a special appearance at Bangor City Stadium on Monday, 24 March, from 4-6pm. This visit is part of a nationwide tour, during which the trophy will be showcased at over forty clubs and schools across Wales.
The tour comes at a historic moment for Welsh football, as the national women’s team has secured its first-ever qualification for a major international tournament. In December 2024, Wales clinched their spot in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 by defeating the Republic of Ireland 2-1 in a play-off final held at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. Goals from Hannah Cain and substitute Carrie Jones ensured the victory, marking a significant milestone for the team.
The trophy’s visit to Bangor provides fans with a special chance to connect with one of European women’s football’s most prestigious symbols. This event is designed to inspire local communities and highlight the national team’s remarkable achievements. After its stop in Bangor, the trophy will continue its tour, making its way to various clubs and schools across the country to promote the sport and encourage greater participation at all levels.
The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 tournament will take place in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July, with matches hosted across eight cities, including Basel, Bern, and Geneva.
As anticipation builds for the upcoming tournament, the trophy tour serves as a testament to the growth and success of women’s football in Wales, inspiring the next generation of players and supporters.
Ahead of the EUROs in Switzerland, Cymru will continue their UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign over the next two months, facing Denmark at the Cardiff City Stadium (7:15pm Friday 4 April) and Italy at the Swansea.com Stadium (KO TBC Tuesday 3 June).
