The PSPO covers the city centre of Bangor and is a crucial tool to deter anti-social behaviour. The order is currently in place until November 2025.
Sergeant Daniel Dent said: “Officers have increased patrols on Bangor High Street following concerns raised by the community and business owners regarding recent incidents of anti-social behaviour.
“We are committed to working with the community to tackle unacceptable behaviour which has a detrimental effect on all those who live and work in the area.
“We continue to enforce the PSPO conditions and encourage anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour to contact us.”
The conditions of the Order are that individuals must not:
- Behaving in a manner that is likely to cause harassment, alarm, nuisance, or distress
- Loitering in a state of intoxication through alcohol or drug induced activity
- Consuming alcohol or being in possession of open containers of alcohol likely to cause or causing ASB is prohibited in the restricted Area. A constable or PCSO may require anyone in breach of this condition not to consume alcohol or anything they believe to be alcohol and to surrender anything in their possession which is alcohol
- Loitering within 10 meters of any cash point
A breach of the PSPO is a criminal offence and is dealt with by way of Fixed Penalty Notice or prosecution through the Magistrates’ Court.
