Motorists are being advised that the A487 Treborth Road in Bangor will be closed from 8pm to 9.30pm this evening (Tuesday, 21st October) between the Treborth Interchange (Junction 9, A55) and the Antelope Inn roundabout to allow for ongoing collision investigation work.
Detective Inspector Tim Evans, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Following the serious injury collision on 23rd September, further investigative work is required.
“We have sought to minimise disruption following the evening closure of the Menai Suspension Bridge, and I would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation at this time.”
The closure follows a serious road traffic collision that occurred on Tuesday, 23rd September, on the outskirts of Bangor. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8:31pm after reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a white VW Golf and a black Vauxhall Corsa.
A 17-year-old female driver of the Corsa was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor before being airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries. Two other passengers also sustained serious injuries.
The 57-year-old male driver of the Golf appeared in court in Llandudno, where he denied causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was refused bail and remanded in custody. And is due to appear before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court in due course.
Police say tonight’s temporary road closure is necessary to support ongoing investigative work at the scene.
