Two restaurants in Bangor have recently been awarded top awards, as winners at the first ever Welsh Asian Food Awards.
The Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant on Bangor High Street won the best Cantonese Restaurant of the Year while Jasmine Restaurant, also on Bangor High street, won the best Chinese Restaurant of the Year for North Wales.
The winners were revealed after a glamorous, black-tie awards ceremony was held at the Exchange Hotel on Monday the 2 December in Cardiff.
The Award ceremony is the first of its kind and exists to recognise and reward a variety of Asian restaurants, takeaways and eateries across Wales. The campaign began in Scotland last year and has since been delivered in England, Ireland, London and has now come to Wales.
The campaign recognises those who work their hardest to service the Asian food industry which is growing and diversifying each year. The event celebrated the achievements of businesses and individuals who connect communities through food and culture. Categories included Japanese Restaurant of the Year, Asian Fusion Restaurant of the Year and 5 Star Indian Restaurant of the Year, reflecting Wales’ love for all kinds of Asian cuisine.
The Welsh Asian Food Awards 2019 were organised by Oceanic Consulting – the UK’s leading ethnic awards company. CEO Irfan Younis said: “I’d like to say a massive congratulations to all winners and finalists from the first ever Welsh Asian Food Awards 2019.
“This campaign designed to honour all varieties of Asian cuisine has done brilliantly across the UK. We’re proud to honour and celebrate the individuals who open Wales’ doors to Asia’s kitchen.”
