In the light of recent national events, police in Bangor  have issued safety advice to students and local residents.

Sgt Arwel Hughes said: “As a University city, Bangor has a high proportion of younger residents, and I would like to reassure our student population that incidents of stalking or assaults are rare.

“We take all incidents very seriously, and we work closely with the University to ensure the safety of our community, but also encourage anyone who experiences any form of harassment to report it directly to the police immediately.

“Unfortunately, if people share things on social media but do not report it to North Wales Police, this could cost us vital time in any potential investigation.

“Finally, don’t forget that both iPhones and Android mobiles have the facility for you to alert the emergency services in the event of an incident, even if you are unable to talk to the operator.”
