A planning application to create a Greggs Drive Thru and Takeaway facility at Bangor Retail Park, on Caernarfon Road, has been approved.

According to the planning statement, the site will be located at the southern end of the car park next to multi-channel retailer The Range and Caprice furniture outlet. The unit will be 1800 square feet (167 square metres). It is proposed to erect the building on the site of 42 car parking spaces at the Bangor Retail Park. The proposal also includes associated outside seating area, an EV charging area and customer parking bays.

The unit is positioned such that it occupies a little used area of car park, in a position to have visibility from the road whilst being as far from the site entrance as possible. This provides vehicular queuing distance from the site entrance, road visibility and development in the context of existing retail unit. The unit will be used for hot food and drink sales allowing both consumption on the premises and on a takeaway basis (using the drive thru facility).

The report demonstrated that, in respect to flood risk, the proposed development of the site is not likely to be affected by flooding.

Recent successful planning applications within the locality include a drive-thru KFC restaurant and more recently for a drive-thru Starbucks, at the site of the former Harvey’s New York Bar & Grill.
