A persistent fly-tipper who was repeatedly leaving bags of household rubbish on undeveloped land at Maes Berea in Bangor, has been given a fixed penalty notice by Gwynedd Council.
The perpetrator had been leaving bags of rubbish on a regular basis, which mainly consisted of recyclable material such as plastic bottles, tins, cardboard packaging and glass bottles.
The council are now looking into the removal of rubbish on the site, which is privately owned.
An outline planning application for the provision of 9 dwellings with integrated garages has recently been submitted for the site.
Fly-Tipping
Over 36,000 fly-tipping incidents were recorded in Wales during 2015/16. These incidents varied in size from a bin bag of rubbish to large lorry loads of construction and demolition waste.
The Fixed penalty Notice fines for small-scale fly-tipping can range between £150 and £400. If no amount is specified by the waste collection authority, the amount of the fixed penalty is £200. The penalties can be used on both publicly and privately owned land.
