One of Bangor’s most exciting new sporting attractions is just weeks away from opening, with S3 Padel confirming its brand-new indoor venue at the former Ferranti site is on course to welcome players this August.
The opening follows the approval of planning permission to transform part of the historic industrial building into a modern padel centre, bringing one of the world’s fastest-growing sports to the city.
The new facility will feature nine indoor padel courts, along with changing rooms, a warm-up area, pro shop, café and bar, and spectator space, creating a dedicated hub for players of all ages and abilities.
Padel, a fast-paced racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, has seen explosive growth across the UK in recent years thanks to its easy-to-learn, social nature.
S3 Padel says the Bangor venue will offer coaching, social sessions, competitions and introductory classes, making the sport accessible whether you’re picking up a racket for the first time or already a regular player.
The Bangor venue will become S3 Padel’s first site in Wales, representing a significant investment in the city’s sporting facilities and adding another leisure attraction for residents and visitors alike. The company has also committed to providing thousands of hours of free court time for schools, charities and community groups as part of its wider community programme.
With the finishing touches now being completed, the countdown is on ahead of the official opening later this summer, giving Bangor residents the chance to experience one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports on their doorstep.
