It’s A Sin star Olly Alexander said scenes that were filmed in Bangor, were some of his favourite from the show and that he was crying watching the latest episode of the TV series ‘It’s a Sin’.
In episode four of Russell T Davies’ highly-acclaimed show, which follows a group of young gay friends in London at the time of the Aids crisis in the 1980s, lead character Ritchie Tozer (played by Olly) is informed by a doctor that he has Aids.
Ritchie feels compelled to travel to his family home in the Isle of Wight, where he bumps into an old school friend called Martin Pascoe (Jonny Green), who’s working at the local pub.
Having persuaded Martin to drive them both to the beach, filmed at Siliwen in Bangor not the Isle of Wight, Ritchie confesses to him that he used to have a huge crush on him at school.
While watching the episode Olly, who is also the lead singer for Years & Years, admitted that the scenes he shared with Jonny were some of his most treasured from the five-episode drama. ‘The scenes with Martin on the Isle Of White are some of my favourite from the show,’ he wrote, alongside a string of sobbing emojis. ‘I’m crying again.’
After Ritchie gets out of Martin’s car outside his family house, he performs a short ballet routine in front of the headlights, which viewers described as the most moving scenes in the show.
It’s A Sin returns next Friday at 9pm on Channel 4 and is available to watch on All 4.
