North Wales Police have launched ’Op Caramba’ which will be focusing on Menai Bridge and Bangor, with the aim of providing high visibility foot and mobile patrols to reassure those who are enjoying their nights out.

Special constables will be joining regular police officers conducting foot and mobile patrols and in and around Menai Bridge and Bangor, and if necessary outlying villages and towns, to address any crime or anti-social behaviour issues.

Op Caramba will operate on Saturday nights for an initial ten week period, allowing police to then evaluate its success.

The initiative will involve approximately 10 officers made up of specials, Anglesey and Gwynedd officers and will also operate a ‘rowdy van‘

Chief Inspector Mark Armstrong, of North Wales Police, said: “The aim is to provide high visibility foot and mobile patrols to reassure those who are enjoying their nights out.

“I hope it becomes a permanent fixture as this will enable us to provide boots on the ground at key times in the area.”
